Seametrics iMAG 4700/AG3000 magmeter (Modbus version)

Register map(s) for this device, with a note of how far each has been checked. Addresses are 0-based, as on the wire. Scale and byte order are confirmed only at the hardware-verified rung.

coherence-checked

Round-trips through a real Modbus stack with no overlapping addresses and a word-order-sensitive codec — the map is internally coherent and wire-decodable. Does NOT prove byte-order or scaling match a real device: the emulator is seeded from the map's own types, so a uniformly wrong byte-order still round-trips. Only hardware-verified confirms byte-order/scale on the wire.

link settings as documented (unverified): RTU; default 19200 8N1; unit ID 1; FC 03,04,06,16; Data Bits = 8 (Not Selectable). Stop Bits = 1 (Not Selectable).

⚠ When quantities are written to the meter, they are also stored in an internal EEPROM device. As such, there is a limit as to how many times the device may be written. With this in mind, the write operation should be used cautiously and sparingly. — Starkest reads only; we never write a control register.

powerMeters having the old 102151 Modbus option board must be configured for, and connected to, external power. Meters using the 103848 Modbus option board can run off external power or primarily off the internal battery.
accuracyThe values for FLOWRATE, FORWARD TOTAL, and REVERSE TOTAL are stored internally in the meter as 64-bit, double precision IEEE numbers. 32-bit float values include a certain amount of rounding when total exceeds 16,777,216 units.

⚠ disputed: identification registers — disputed by Seametrics Modbus Interface Description (LT-103393r1.8) which maps MODEL # to 6000 (not 6008), LOWER FIRMWARE to 6008 (not 6016), UPPER FIRMWARE to 6016 (not 6024), MODBUS FIRMWARE to 6024 (not 6032), and SERIAL # to 7024 (not 6000)

field reports — community-sourced, unverified (checked 2026-06-11)
  • Upgrading the Modbus option board to the low-power version requires updating the meter firmware to version 4.05 and replacing the Modbus option board with one programmed with version 2.02 firmware. [source]
  • confirmed: comms defaults — confirmed by Seametrics Modbus Interface Description (LT-103393r1.8) which lists default baud rate as 19200, default slave ID as 1, and RTU framing with function codes 3, 4, 6, and 16
  • confirmed: register map (flow_rate @ 7006, total_fwd @ 7008, total_rev @ 7010, total_batch_forward @ 7022, total_batch_reverse @ 7024) — confirmed by Seametrics Modbus Interface Description register map
  • confirmed: power and termination — confirmed by Seametrics Modbus Interface Description which states the 103848 low-power board can run on internal battery and has a built-in 120-ohm termination resistor activated by JP1 jumper

The trust ladder

Each rung states what it proved and what it did not. Gray until proven; green is earned by hardware only.
