Sontex Supercal 531 heat meter (needs Modbus EIA-485 module)

Register map(s) for this device, with a note of how far each has been checked. Addresses are 0-based, as on the wire. Scale and byte order are confirmed only at the hardware-verified rung.

coherence-checked

Round-trips through a real Modbus stack with no overlapping addresses and a word-order-sensitive codec — the map is internally coherent and wire-decodable. Does NOT prove byte-order or scaling match a real device: the emulator is seeded from the map's own types, so a uniformly wrong byte-order still round-trips. Only hardware-verified confirms byte-order/scale on the wire.

link settings as documented (unverified): RTU/ASCII; default 19200 8E1; unit ID 1; The device address, the serial transmission mode (RTU or ASCII) and the parity can be changed over the optical interface by the Prog531 and Prog449 configuration software or via Modbus command. If no parity is set, the number of stop bits is set to 2 automatically.

⚠ Avoid electrostatic discharges during installation or handling. Modbus devices powered from a common AC source could be damaged if a mix of half-wave and full-wave rectified devices exist. — Starkest reads only; we never write a control register.

field reports — community-sourced, unverified (checked 2026-06-11)
  • confirmed: comms defaults — confirmed by Sontex Modbus EIA-485 module manual (0531P217) which states default unit ID is 1, default transmission mode is RTU, and if no parity is set, stop bits automatically default to 2
  • confirmed: physical terminals and isolation — confirmed by Sontex installation instructions detailing 2x3 screw terminals (D1/D0/Common), DIP switch S1 for termination (120 Ω + 1nF), and mains switching power supply modules 0531A030 (isolated) and 0690A013 (full-wave rectifier)
  • confirmed: firmware applicability — confirmed by Sontex manual stating compatibility with Supercal 531 / Superstatic 449 firmware release FW 3.7 or higher
  • confirmed: identification registers — confirmed by Sontex register map showing Fabrication number MET at 30001-30002, Firmware version at 30003, and Custom ID (OEM serial number) at 40023-40024

The trust ladder

Each rung states what it proved and what it did not. Gray until proven; green is earned by hardware only.
